1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions:
Prep the Oven & Pans
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream the Butter & Sugars
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy (about 2 minutes).
Add Eggs & Vanilla
Mix in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
Stir in the Chips
Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts, if using.
Scoop & Bake
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons (or use a cookie scoop) onto the baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
Bake Until Golden
